Later in the Foreword, Mark points out the many ways that God has revealed a great respect for women. The importance of women throughout salvation history is quite clear. Of course, the best example is the Blessed Mother, Mary.
Mark shares a thought about Mary that hadn’t occurred to me before. “The highest and greatest saint in the entire Communion of Saints is a woman. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the only person (outside of the Holy Trinity) to be present at the three most important events in the history of the world: the Nativity, the Triduum, and Pentecost.”
In addition to Mary, Scripture is loaded with powerful and inspirational women. Mark reminds us of this fact as we prepare to learn more about them throughout this book. He also describes Emily, the author, as “a woman after Mary’s own heart” who will guide us to learn more about some of the amazing women in the Bible.
Before we even start learning about the women who Emily has chosen to highlight in the book, I’m curious about your ideas. Who are your favorite women in Scripture? Do any of the women in the Bible inspire you more than others? I would love for you to scroll down to the comments below and share your thoughts.
