I love Advent, so I’m not really complaining, but I’m a little overwhelmed with all the Advent resources I keep seeing. There’s no way I could ever get to all of it! I suppose that’s an abundance of blessings.
One of my all time favorites is the Best Advent Ever from Dynamic Catholic. I have enjoyed it for several years – not really sure how many. I highly recommend it. It’s so simple. I get an email each day with a link to a short video of Matthew Kelly sharing some kind of Advent inspiration. They also have a similar program during Lent. I’m pretty sure these programs were the sparks that got me on the path to renewing my faith. The Dynamic Catholic approach is kind of a no-nonsense appreciation for our faith. It really makes things accessible and practical. Check it out at https://www.dynamiccatholic.com/
I also recommend that you check out the St. Paul Center at https://stpaulcenter.com. Put Advent in the search bar and you will find a wealth of resources. The St. Paul Center was founded by Dr. Scott Hahn of Franciscan University. He has been one of my favorite professors from my theology studies. I have several of his books, in Kindle and audiobook forms, and I started following his podcast, and his wife’s new podcast.
While we’re talking about Franciscan University, I will mention the Ministry of the Wild Goose at https://wildgoose.tv. I watched a series of videos called Metanoia last spring that were wonderful. I’m not sure of all the details about the ministry, but I know the president of Franciscan U, Fr. Dave Pivonka, plays a big role. I have actually started listening to a new podcast that Fr. Dave is doing with Dr. Bob Rice. It is called They that Hope, and I am enjoying it, too.
Of course, I have to mention 2 of my favorite organizations for Catholic Women, Blessed is She (https://blessedisshe.net/ ) and Endow (https://www.endowgroups.org/ ). Both organizations provide so much support and education for Catholic women, and I love them both. One of the writers for BIS also has a ministry with her husband called Pray More Novenas (https://www.praymorenovenas.com/ ), and they have a self-paced Advent retreat available that looks amazing.
Another great source for Catholic Women is my favorite podcast right now, Abiding Together (https://www.abidingtogetherpodcast.com/ ). I have shared a couple links to that one on my Facebook page. They just started an Advent series this week that is centered on Mary. I have started listening to my podcasts in the car on my way to and from work. What a great way to start my day and then transition home.
Okay, so I think you can see why I said it’s an abundance of resources. There’s no way I could ever take advantage of them all, but I feel blessed to have so many options! I hope you find time to enjoy a couple of them yourself.
