I am excited to start posting new entries again next week, but I’m going to shift my focus for a little while. As you may have noticed, I’ve always viewed this blog as a journey of discovery. Sure, I have particular views, and those will certainly come through. But I also want it to take me where I am meant to go, even when that seems to be a bit of a surprise, even to me.
The first 20 weeks of this blog took me through an examination of some amazing female role models in our faith. I learned so much from studying the saints and praying and writing about them, and I am so grateful for the lessons I learned in that process.
But I had another idea as I was praying through Advent. I have become interested in studying the Book of Psalms. As I played around with several different ideas, I ended up with this. I plan to share and discuss one Psalm a day, Monday through Friday, each week.
Again, I want to be very clear when I say that I do not claim to speak for the Catholic Church in any way. I am not an expert in theology, and I don’t want to imply that my voice holds any kind of authority here. I am just an everyday Catholic woman, who is interested in having a conversation with other Christian people about our faith.
The Psalms appeal to me because they feel like a model for prayer. Even better, they are essentially song lyrics, right? Seriously, I’d love to take a class someday in Gregorian Chant. Wouldn’t it be amazing to actually intone every Psalm? Hey, when you sing, you pray twice!
Anyway, I won’t make posts on Saturdays and Sundays for a while, unless something relevant comes up. I hope you’ll join me on weekdays for a journey through the Book of Psalms. …by the way, did you know there are 150 Psalms? So looking at 5 per week, I suppose this will take us 30 weeks! I look forward to hearing from you now and then, too!!
